The last thing I need to work out is how to embed my blog somehow into the website. I know I could probably create a custom theme for wordpress that would make my blog look just like my website, but i’d much rather have it embedded somehow than merely have the “blog” link take the viewer off-site.

I’ve been researching some options and I think I’ll mess around with this IFrame stuff and see how simple that is.

Art Noveau began in the 1880s as a reaction against the historical emphasis of mid-19th-century art, but did not survive World War I. Art that is considered an inferior, tasteless copy of an extant style of art. The term kitsch was a response to the 19th century art whose aesthetics convey exaggerated sentimentality and melodrama, hence, kitsch art is closely associated with sentimental art. Moreover, kitsch also denotes the types of art that are like-wise æsthetically deficient making it a creative gesture that merely imitates the superficial appearances of art (via repeated conventions and formulae), thus, it is uncreative and unoriginal; it is not Art. Contemporaneously, kitsch also (loosely) denotes art that is æsthetically pretentious to the degree of being in poor taste, and to industrially-produced art-items that are considered trite and crass. The zany, playful, extreme accessories and decorations of the 1950s were very much kitsch or “1950s pop.” To call them whimsical is an understatement.

Went to a party with my friend Chelsea up at OU and that was bunches of fun! I always enjoy getting the opportunity to meet new people. Made a few new friends, and learned a few new games. (Jesus, and Kyle) Speaking of parties, and fun in general, I’m dying here! DCfC is having a concert here in OK and I really want to go! I’ve wanted to go to a concert ever since I found out Ben Gibbards moved on to DCfC and that the Postal Service was dead. (that’s four years!)

And speaking of crowd gathering events, I went to a Blazers game the 28th with my boyfriend (double date? his best friend and best-friend’s fiance were there) It was a pretty good game, only one fight broke out, but that;s better than nothing, right? This one poor guy got knocked out cold though. A solid minute and a half he was down. I was a bit worried that I might see a death at my first hockey game! But all turned out good. There were a few other “oooh.. owwwww” moments thoughout the game, but that one (along with the guy who did a full flip in air when he got tripped) was really memorable.
Can I say just how cool my boyfriend is? Afterwards we watched some Last-Exile, a great steampunk inspired anime. We’re going to cook together in two weeks, and I’m super excited! I’ll put up our little recipes, and how they turned out! It’s gonna be a beef stew and some great Australian bread. See you guys around later!

In other news, I am heading to Abeline with Wishing Well at about 1:30 today to help support our branch up there. RoomieRachel will be turning in my Flash assignment, seeing as I’m heading off before class. Hopefully I don’t miss too muc. God, that’s in 12 hours, and that’s a 5 hour drive. I can only hope that I’ll get some sleep on the ride up, because I will be driving back at midnight, and I don’t want to be driving after two nights of no-sleep. If i do, it will be interesting, to say the least. I’m hoping to have a good time there.

so I just found out today that we can apparently use sites like flashkit and such. I’ve been using tutorials and things like that, but I’ve just learned we can take premade things and incorporate them to our own use. I’m intrigued. This doesn’t change that I still hate you Adobe Flash. My fury burns hotter than one-thousand hot burning angry angry suns. You are pure evil.

In other news, I found a post on craigslist looking for an art student to illustrate a children’t book, due to budget restraints. I’m interested, but I am unsure if I’ll be able to do this due to my lack of time, and them saying they are on a tight schedule. I’m looking into details, and I’ll cross my fingers and hope things work out!

Can I say just how much I am very frustrated with Flash at this moment? I don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore. I have gone through SEVEN “how to make a website” tutorials, and have gotten NONE of them to work properly! A huge problem that I am running into is that I am using CS4 on my laptop because I am not generally able to make it to the MacLab when it is open. This means several commands and options are completely gone, or perhaps renamed.

Rachel says my website looks fine, but I am sick, and frustrated with being up late half assing everything because I don’t know what the hell I’m doing anymore. I feel like a monkey given a bottle of Elmer’s washable glue and a soggy cardboard box and told to make a floating ship in one hour.

In other news, to make myself feel better. I have listened to the dramatic reading of this breakup letter.

I’ve had a lot of frustration with scrollpanes. I want one that works by merely hovering, instead of this repetitive click click clicking.. can’t seem to hammer it out. Tried to use this tutorial but my components box is always empty, so I can’t finish it which is frustrating. I really hate working in CS4 when its still so new, because all the tutorials seem outdated.

Two fairly rough ideas for ways I’d like to see this go. On one hand I want to keep it really casual and inviting, because it’s a coffee shop, but the other half of me wants it to show up ritzy and classy.
One thing is for sure though, I am keeping with a warm color scheme! Red, yellow, orange, browns. Not too strong, generally lower saturation variants of those colors. mmmm. inviting.
